Enter connection information
The form changes with the selected database engine. DataFact cloud currently creates external data sources only, so it does not show a separate source-type selector. Use values supplied through your organization's approved credential process.
Common fields
- Data source name: a recognizable display name.
- Data Source Description: a non-empty description of the connection's purpose.
- Database Username and Database Password: credentials for the target database.
- Database Name: the database to open.
- Table Filter Rule: a SQL regular expression that limits synchronized tables;
.*matches all tables.
Type-specific fields
- An external PostgreSQL connection requires Host Address and Port.
- A cloud PostgreSQL connection requires the displayed resource ID field.
- Only the source types enabled in the current form can be created.
Security guidance
- Verify the host and database before entering a password.
- Do not reuse a personal password if a service credential is required.
- Do not include passwords in screenshots, tickets, or copied error reports.
- In edit mode, leaving the masked password unchanged can preserve the stored credential; enter a new password only when you intend to replace it.
