Start a Session
A Session keeps the questions and answers for one line of work. DataFact uses lazy Session creation: opening an Agent or selecting New session returns you to a blank composer, but does not save a Session yet.
Prerequisites
- You can open an Agent.
- The input is enabled.
- The Agent has a usable model and the resources needed for your question.
Start the Session
- Open the Agent.
- To leave an existing Session, select New session.
- Select Ask a question….
- Enter a non-empty question.
- Press Enter or select Send. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
DataFact creates the Session when the first question is submitted. The question becomes the start of the Session and the new entry is added to Session history.
Expected result
The question appears as your message and the Agent moves into a visible response state, such as waiting, processing, clarification, completion, cancellation, or failure.
Important rules
- An empty or whitespace-only input does not create a Session.
- Selecting New session repeatedly does not create empty history entries.
- Do not send the same question repeatedly while the first request is waiting or processing.
- A read-only Session can be viewed but cannot be continued.
If creation fails
Read the visible error first. Confirm that the Agent is still available and that the input is enabled, then retry once. If the failure continues, keep the Agent name, time, and visible error for a support request.
