Import and analyze an Excel document

1. Upload an .xls, .xlsx, or .csv file to the Document Library.
2. Create a Documents (Excel) resource in MemoryLake.
3. Add the uploaded file to that resource. Adding links the existing library file; it is separate from the initial upload.
4. Wait for parsing to reach the completed state before opening worksheet metadata.
5. Review worksheets and, when needed, update worksheet aliases, descriptions, or column semantic metadata, then save and parse again.
6. Use the resource with an eligible file-based Agent or select it in the Preview AI Reports flow.

Important limitations

• File extension routing is verified for .xls, .xlsx, and .csv; actual parsing can still fail because of content or service conditions.
• Metadata editing does not edit source cell values, worksheet order, original worksheet name, source range, or inferred type.
• A report task uses only documents whose parsing status is complete.
