View PDF highlights

When a citation points to a PDF and includes source positions, DataFact can open the PDF preview and highlight the related regions.

Open the highlighted source

  1. In a completed answer, open the numbered citation.
  2. Confirm that the cited document is a PDF.
  3. Select the document action in the citation preview.
  4. In the PDF drawer, review the highlighted region and the surrounding page.

Highlights are generated only from positions supplied with the citation. If no usable positions are present, the PDF may still open without an exact highlight.

Verify the context

Do not read only the highlighted words. Check the surrounding heading, paragraph, table labels, footnotes, and page context. A highlight can locate the retrieved passage, but it does not determine whether the Agent interpreted it correctly.

Common problems

  • The PDF does not open: the source URL may be unavailable or inaccessible.
  • The PDF opens without a highlight: the citation may not include usable position data.
  • The highlighted text looks incomplete: inspect the surrounding page and other citations before relying on the answer.
