Documents (Excel) exposes metadata at two levels: the document list and the parsed worksheet page.
Document-list metadata
The resource detail page can show each file's name, parsing status, size, creator, creation time, updater, and update time. The page also shows the resource creation time, document count, and a summary of selected processing states.
Use filename and status filters, then apply the filters. Pressing Enter in the filename field also applies the current filter. Clear the applied filters to return to the unfiltered list.
Parsed metadata
After a file reaches Parse Success, select its name or Metadata Settings. The metadata page can show:
- the document name when returned by the service;
- worksheets and detected subtables;
- worksheet source names, semantic aliases, and descriptions; and
- detected column names, data types, semantic names, and semantic descriptions.
Only successfully parsed files open the worksheet metadata page. A failed filename can be displayed in the list but is not a link to metadata.
Important distinction
The preview action displays the source file when its format and preview service are supported. Metadata Settings displays parsed structure. A successful preview does not prove parsing succeeded, and successful parsing does not guarantee that every worksheet or table was detected as intended.
