Manage business entities

A business entity gives a reusable name and description to a concept used during analysis. Entity records enrich interpretation; they do not create or rename physical database tables.

Availability and edit state

  • In an eligible Dataset, open Knowledge Management > Entities. The area is editable only while the Dataset is not using a bound Analysis Model.
  • In an Analysis Model, open Knowledge > Business Entities and select a knowledge version. Only a version whose build status is Completed is editable.

Create an entity

  1. Open the entity area and select the create action.
  2. Enter the required name and description.
  3. Add synonyms when they help match alternate business terms.
  4. In a Dataset form, complete the analysis-hint field only when it is shown.
  5. Save and wait for success confirmation.

Dataset synonyms are checked case-insensitively for duplicates after surrounding whitespace is ignored. Analysis Model forms can vary by model template; use only fields shown in the current form.

Maintain entities

Use row actions to edit or delete an entity, and the status switch to enable or disable it. A failed status change refreshes the row so the visible switch returns to the server state.

Deletion requires confirmation. It can fail when relationships or other knowledge still depend on the entity, when the entity is not eligible for deletion, or when another update changed the same model record. Resolve the visible dependency or reload the current data before retrying.

Read-only behavior

Read-only views omit edit and delete actions and disable status changes. Switching to another version or unbinding a Dataset does not make content editable unless that target also satisfies its own edit rules.
