Understand editable and read-only states
Visible knowledge is not necessarily editable. Check the resource context and selected version before interpreting missing controls as an error.
Dataset knowledge
- Eligible legacy-version Datasets can show their own Knowledge Management group.
- When no Analysis Model is bound, that Dataset knowledge is editable.
- When a model is bound, visible Dataset knowledge becomes read-only.
- Newer Dataset versions can omit the Dataset knowledge group entirely because knowledge is maintained through an Analysis Model.
Analysis Model knowledge
The version selector controls which version each knowledge panel reads and writes. The default is the current active version when it exists in the returned list; otherwise the selector falls back to the latest version.
Editability is determined by build status:
- Completed: editable, including completed versions that are not latest or current.
- Created, Preparing, Building, or Failed: read-only.
The Latest and Current labels do not determine editability. A completed historical version can be editable, while the latest failed version is read-only.
UI behavior
Read-only panels hide create, save, edit, and delete actions or disable status switches. Switching the selector changes the version context; unsaved local text should not be assumed to carry across versions.
Workspace-level read-only or missing corresponding access can impose an additional restriction even when the resource-level rule would otherwise allow editing.
