Generate a report

Start a generation task from a report template.

Prerequisites

You need a report template and at least one available Documents (Excel) resource. Worksheets are offered only from documents whose parsing status is complete.

Start generation

  1. Open a report template and select Generate Report.
  2. Enter a non-empty report name. Optionally enter a report period as free text.
  3. Select one Documents (Excel) resource from the available list.
  4. For each template section, expand a parsed document and select zero or more worksheets. The same source selection is represented by document ID and worksheet name.
  5. Review the report name, period, locked template, selected resource, and section mappings.
  6. Confirm generation.

Expected result

DataFact creates a task and refreshes the report records. While the task is active, the records view refreshes approximately every five seconds and shows returned progress details. The initial record represents an in-progress request; it is not evidence that report generation has completed.

Important limitations

  • Exactly one Documents (Excel) resource is selected for a task in the current flow.
  • A section may be submitted with no worksheets. That makes the source mapping empty; it does not guarantee that the section can be generated.
  • The worksheet picker loads parsed documents in pages and does not establish that every document in the resource was inspected.
  • Changing the selected Documents (Excel) resource clears existing section mappings.

Errors and recovery

If you cannot proceed, verify the report name and selected resource. If documents or worksheets are missing, confirm their parsing status in MemoryLake before reopening the dialog.
