Resolve indexing failures

A failed parse means the document did not reach a usable indexed state. A long-running queue or parse is not automatically a failure.

Check the visible state

  1. Open the Documents (Lite) resource.
  2. Find the affected document and read its status, progress, and error details when available.
  3. Confirm that the source file still exists and can be previewed or downloaded when those actions are available.
  4. Review the selected chunking method and any method-specific fields.
  5. If the state is Failed or Parse Canceled, select Parse Again or the parse action.

Do not change the chunking method merely to clear an error: changing it overwrites existing chunks and manual edits. Change it only when the source structure or error evidence indicates that the current method is unsuitable.

Stalled processing

For Queueing, Parsing, or Canceling, wait and refresh once before intervening. If the state remains unchanged beyond the expected operating window, record the resource name, file name, status, progress, approximate start time, and visible error.

When retry still fails

Avoid repeated retries with identical inputs. Verify the source file format and integrity, then request support with the recorded details. Do not include confidential source content unless the approved support process requires it.
