Manage entity relationships

Entity relationships describe how two existing business entities are connected. This guide covers the explicit relationship list on eligible Datasets. Drill-down Analysis Models maintain hierarchy through their own drill-down entity and topology workflow.

Prerequisites

The Dataset must expose editable Knowledge Management, and the source and target entities must already exist. You need corresponding access.

Create a relationship

  1. Open Knowledge Management > Entity Relationships.
  2. Select the create action.
  3. Choose a source entity.
  4. Choose a different target entity.
  5. Choose one of the relationship types returned for the Dataset.
  6. Save and wait for success confirmation.

The source and target cannot be the same entity. A duplicate relationship can be rejected by the service.

Find and maintain relationships

Filter the list by relationship type, source entity, or target entity, then apply the filters. Reset returns all three controls to their unfiltered state.

Editable rows provide actions to edit, delete, enable, or disable a relationship. Delete requires confirmation. If an entity is deleted, relationships that depend on it can disappear or become invalid after the related data refreshes.

Read-only and error states

When Dataset knowledge is read-only, row actions are omitted and status switches are disabled. If entity names are still resolving, wait for the list to finish rather than interpreting an identifier as the final display name.
