Understand dataset tables and fields

A SQL dataset inherits its physical tables and fields from the schemas selected during creation. The dataset detail overview shows the selected schema names, not a separately editable table inventory.

What you can configure

During dataset creation, select one or more schemas from the chosen database connection. That selection defines the structured-data scope exposed to the dataset.

For dataset versions that expose Knowledge Management, entities and relationships can add business meaning for analysis. These knowledge objects do not rename or alter physical source columns.

What you cannot configure here

The current SQL dataset interface does not provide a standalone page for:

  • adding or removing schemas after creation;
  • selecting individual physical tables for the dataset;
  • renaming physical fields; or
  • changing source column types.

To use a different connection or schema scope, create a new dataset with the required selection. Validate the replacement before deleting the original dataset.

Verify the source structure

Use the linked database details to browse the schemas and tables reported by the connection. Treat that view as source inspection; availability can still depend on the connection account and current access.
