Connect datasets and knowledge
Linking resources gives an Agent access to a defined source for retrieval or analysis.
Connect resources
- Create an Agent, or open Configuration for an editable Agent.
- Open Resources and skills. In the current General agent form, this is the highlighted section and is expanded by default.
- Select the available resource group that matches the work: Documents (Lite), Datasets, or Documents (Excel).
- Select one or more resources shown by that selector and review the selected-resource summary.
- Review any type-specific behavior settings and save the Agent.
The interface maps knowledge base resources to Documents (Lite), database resources to Datasets, and file resources to Documents (Excel). A Data agent uses one resource kind, although multiple resources of that kind may be linked when the selector permits it. A General agent can show more than one resource group when those capabilities are available.
Expected result
Subsequent Agent requests can use the saved resources. The exact output—such as citations, tables, charts, or generated files—depends on the Agent type, question, execution, and returned data.
Important limitations
- Resource availability is filtered by the current workspace, capabilities, and service response.
- Changing the resource kind while creating clears resources selected for the previous kind.
- The resource kind is locked when editing a Data agent.
- If an existing resource becomes unavailable, the form can remove the stale selection. Review the form before saving.
- Linking a resource does not guarantee that every answer will use it or include a citation.
- If an Agent has no bound resource, the Session workspace can show a dismissible reminder with an action that opens configuration. Dismissing the reminder does not bind a resource.
Errors and recovery
If no resource is listed, confirm that a compatible MemoryLake resource exists and is available to you. If the form reports that a selection was removed, choose a current resource before saving.
