Configure the model and instructions

The model produces the response. Instructions and other behavior settings guide how the Agent uses its available capabilities.

Configure behavior

  1. Create an Agent or open an editable Agent and select Configuration.
  2. Select an available chat model when the form exposes a model selector.
  3. Enter the system prompt or instructions in the behavior field provided by the form.
  4. For a General agent, review the enabled skills, identity, response style, answer language, and output-display settings that are visible.
  5. For other Agent types, review the type-specific settings shown by the form.
  6. Save the configuration.

Expected result

The saved configuration is used for subsequent requests. It does not rewrite earlier answers in existing Sessions.

Important limitations

  • The exact controls differ between General and Data agent forms and can vary by deployment.
  • A model missing from the selector is not proven to be unsupported; it may be unavailable or not configured for the current workspace.
  • Instructions guide model behavior but do not guarantee a particular wording, result, or level of accuracy.
  • If an Agent has no usable model, the Session page can disable input and show a configuration notice.

Errors and recovery

If a previously selected model becomes unavailable, select another available model before saving. If settings are read-only, you do not have an editable configuration in the current context.
